To be honest, today is a pretty slow day in terms of NC State news, but we don’t think this week will end that way.
This is the week that could hold answers to questions that Wolfpack fans have been wanting answered for nearly a month now. Like, will Calvin Leslie come back to school? Will Amile Jefferson commit to NC State? and How did Andrew Young’s visit go? Let’s go ahead and get started…
What the deal with Calvin? The count is now up to two media outlets and two of our own separate sources that are saying Leslie will be coming back next season for his junior year. So why haven’t we heard anything official? Good questions. I’m not sure if Leslie and his family are trying to get some more info, if Leslie is just building up the drama, or a mix of both, but Calvin has State fans on the edge of their seat. We think this is the week that the official word finally comes out. This weekend we read a tweet from Richard Walker who was in Charlotte for the Jordan Brand Classic and works for WBTV who had this to say:
Just talked to an AAU basketball coach who spent some of the day w/NC State’s C.J. Leslie. Said Leslie emphatic he was returning to school.

This makes a little sense because as you can see from the picture above, that Leslie was in fact in Charlotte for the game as well, so whoever the AAU coach was that Walker talked to, may very well HAD spent some time with Leslie.
Will Amile Jefferson make his decision already? We have no new breaking information here, so if that’s what you’re looking for then you can move on. The Jefferson situation is being kept very tight lipped. Those around the Wolfpack program still feel they are sitting well with Jefferson, but aren’t sure what the hold up is. If you want our opinion, we think this whole thing is a waiting game on Leslie. Does this mean that if Leslie comes back, Jefferson goes elsewhere? We can’t say for sure, but I feel like the only way the Pack doesn’t land Jefferson is if Leslie returns, and that’s a trade-off Pack fans should be willing to make. Again, we don’t know for sure what the wait is with Jefferson, we are only making educated guesses here. Could the Pack get Leslie AND Jefferson, yes and obviously we think it’s the best move for Jefferson, but Duke and Kentucky are still in the picture, so we’ll have to wait and see.
We think we’ll finally find out Jefferson’s final decision by the end of this week.
What came of Andrew Young’s visit: We spoke with Andrew Young’s coach on Thursday, who informed us a lot more about Young and talked about his coming visit this weekend. According with those close to NC State, Young had a great visit, got to meet with some of the players and was very impressed by the facilities. He did not give a commitment, but Young’s coach told us not to expect one until the end of this week. We feel like Young is State’s to lose at this point and would surprised if he ended up elsewhere. We will have an interview with Young later this week.
Here was a tweet we really thought was big, considering Young got to speak with the Wolfpack players. Here is what Pack Pride had to say yesterday:
Young says he thinks CJ Leslie will be back for NC State and came away impressed with PG Lorenzo Brown.
