NC State vs. UNC Game Preview: By The Numbers

If NC State defeats the Tar Heels tonight, they will advance the championship game of the 2012 ACC Baseball Tournament.  Back in late March, the Wolfpack lost two out of three over in Chapel Hill. Here is a breakdown ‘By The Numbers‘ of NC State’s performance against the Tar Heels earlier this season:

With the exception of two freshman, Jake Fincher and Trea Turner, the Wolfpack had a very tough time putting the ball in play against their rivals.

Freshman sensation Carlos Rodon will take the mound against the Tar Heels tonight, and while he didn’t factor into the decision against UNC earlier this year, he had a stellar performance (see below in bold).

RHP Benton Moss will take the mound for UNC tonight.  Back in March, Moss appeared briefly against the Wolfpack, pitching 2 1/3 innings, giving up 4 hits, surrendering 2 runs (0 ER), walking 1 and striking out 3.  Trea Turner, Jake Fincher (2B), Brett Austin, and Chris Diaz collected hits against Moss.
