INTERVIEW: Warren Says Proving People Wrong Feels Good

TJ

A couple of years ago most recruiting analysts had chalked TJ Warren up as a passive player, who possessed a finesse game and hung out primarily around the three-point line.  He’s even willing to admit that they may have been somewhat right.  Over the past year and a half Warren has attempted to change that perception with a readjustment of his mental game.  His Twitter feed is constantly filled with hashtags like #nomercy, #dominate, or #killerinstinct.  His mental shift led to a different product on the court.  Warren has transformed his game and in doing so, he changed my perception.  His tenacity and aggressive play are visible and stand out on the court

“I just want to stay aggressive.  People used to say that I settled too much.  My goal is to get to the rim and finish through contact,” said Warren.  ”People used to doubt me.  Proving people wrong feels good.  A year ago no one would have thought I would have been in the McDonald’s game.”

When asked what his thought was on Bleacher Reports article, he had no comment.

“I don’t want to speak on that until I prove them all wrong.”

Warren embraces the role of the underdog.  He wants you to doubt him.  With that being said, he embraces the hype surrounding NC State’s basketball program.  As a long time fan, he has only dreamed of seeing the program rise to the level of this hype.

“It feels good coming in with all this hype and recognition,” said Warren.  ”It’s been a lot of down years for this team.  I’m so glad to be coming in at this time in the life of the program.”
