On June 8th, NC State picked up their 6th commitment of the 2013 football recruiting class. Jerod Fernandez, 6-1, 215, is a 3-star outside linebacker prospect according to Rivals, and a 2-star recruit according to Scout.
Back on March 14th, NC State became the 1st school to offer Fernandez a scholarship.
“He told me he saw my film and he really liked how I played and he was surprised I didn’t have any offers yet, and then he offered me,” said Fernandez, who is ranked No. 33 in the Sentinel’s 2013 Central Florida Super60. “It’s my first offer so I’m pretty excited and now I’m just waiting on more to come in.” (Via Orlando Sentinel)

After NC State offered, Fernandez also received offers from Cincinnati, Rutgers, Temple, Arizona, Memphis, Pittsburgh, and Western Kentucky.
Fernandez came down and visited NC State and attended the Red/White game.
According to Lake Mary’s coach, Scott Perry, NC State is receiving a very athletic outside force.
“He’s very quick and he’s extremely aggressive,” Lake Mary coach Scott Perry said of Fernandez. “He gets on and off blocks very well. He’s very agile because he’s played basketball for three years also. He plays downhill and arrives at the point of attack in an unpleasant demeanor.” (Via Winston-Salem Journal)
Fernandez will be a three-year varsity starter next season. He tallied 99 tackles as a Junior last year. Fernandez also runs a 4.6 40-yard dash.
