Many Wolfpack fans favorite memories of their team are of the good times when Jimmy V was on the sidelines and NC State hoops was on the top of the world.

For a long time, NC State shied away from Valvano because of the way things ended and because of the allegations against him (even though at the end of the day, no wrong doing was found). Now, thanks to Debbie Yow’s focus on the Pack’s history, Valvano and is legacy are back in the picture. Not only is NC State is playing on Tuesday in the Jimmy V Classic, they’ll be rocking V inspired jerseys. Check out this blurb from the USA Today article .

This is awesome.

N.C. State will wear special uniforms honoring Jim Valvano at next week’s Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. The red jerseys feature Valvano’s famous rallying cry “don’t ever give up” on the back.

You know all about that famous speech at the 1993 ESPYs, delivered eight weeks before Valvano died from cancer. His inspirational words live on today with The V Foundation for Cancer Research, which has awarded more than $90 million to 100 cancer facilities nationwide.

The inclusion of the dangling net provides a different, yet equally passionate, glimpse at Valvano.

There’s an oft-told story about how he would give speeches for $50 at basketball camps in the 1970s. When the kids would greet him with the typical lack of enthusiasm, he’d work them into a frenzy, demanding a standing ovation and vowing to give the best speech of his life.

Check’em out.

This is awesome. I have to have one when they go on sale. State does need to keep the Legacy of Valvano in Raleigh. He was a great man and a great coach. Lets beat UCONN next week and show the nation from here on out that we are a force to respect and FEAR the PACK.

Who is this so i know who to sue for slander? These statements are false and absurd. In no way is this statement true. Please remove it.

this is the only time i didn’t like my school. I thought they railroaded Valvano on mere accusation. They did him wrong and they paid for it ever since. NCSU basketball has been loaded with talent but, the coaches were cursed. Now every ref in the ACC hates them over the corchiani/gugliotta fiasco. It shows too in those close games and close calls. Refs can indeed place a weighted finger on the scale when they want to.
