Just how close was the State/UNC game last night? Closer than you think. Let’s take a closer look at the numbers. The Good -NC State matched one of the nation’s top rebounding teams 40-40 on the boards. This stat in itself should let you know that the Wolfpack competed hard against the Heels. They battled for every board and really took away their biggest advantage. -UNC makes their living in the paint. With a big time front court including NBA prospects Tyler Zeller and John Henson it’s pretty likely that they’re going to beat you in the middle. Last night however, that wasn’t the case. The NC State bigs went hard and beat UNC at their own game. In fact, State out scored the Heels 42-22 in the paint. I was really impressed by this. I thought in the first matchup State really just took it at UNC and thought they could out muscle them, but in this one they were more creative. They used pump fakes and pivots to get open in the post and used their quickness to lure the Tar Heel bigs away from the hoop. – State only turned the ball over 4 times. Yes, you…

NC State will face off against Louisville tonight at 8pm in the Belk Bowl. Very often ‘Game Preview’ articles are boring and redundant. In an effort to mix it up a little bit, I decided to breakdown a couple key statistics that I think are pivotal to the outcome of every game. 3rd Down NC State has converted on 3rd down 43% of the time, while their opponents have converted at a 39% rate. Louisville has converted on 3rd down 39% of the time, while their opponents have converted at a 38% rate. RedZone NC State has put points on the board 86%...

He leads the nation in interceptions with 11, four more than any other player on an FBS team. Amerson tied the ACC single-season interception record with his 11th pick against Clemson on November...
