Just how close was the State/UNC game last night? Closer than you think. Let’s take a closer look at the numbers. The Good -NC State matched one of the nation’s top rebounding teams 40-40 on the boards. This stat in itself should let you know that the Wolfpack competed hard against the Heels. They battled for every board and really took away their biggest advantage. -UNC makes their living in the paint. With a big time front court including NBA prospects Tyler Zeller and John Henson it’s pretty likely that they’re going to beat you in the middle. Last night however, that wasn’t the case. The NC State bigs went hard and beat UNC at their own game. In fact, State out scored the Heels 42-22 in the paint. I was really impressed by this. I thought in the first matchup State really just took it at UNC and thought they could out muscle them, but in this one they were more creative. They used pump fakes and pivots to get open in the post and used their quickness to lure the Tar Heel bigs away from the hoop. – State only turned the ball over 4 times. Yes, you…

Just wanted to pass along this update we received from the Keeter family. As you probably already know, Brian played for the Wolfpack from 1998-2002 and was involved in a near fatal accident a few years later. Here is the update: Three years have passed since the near fatal car accident that left Brian paralyzed from below the waist. For over a year, he was mostly bed ridden. Brian finally began intensive spinal cord injury recovery therapy in 2010, and continues to do so at Shepherd Hospital in Atlanta GA. Despite a 4 month set-back from a broken leg requiring surgery last...

Last March all the talk was about Arizona head coach Sean Miller, but this year it might be another Miller getting all the publicity. Don’t look now but former Wolfpack PG Archie Miller (Sean’s brother) in his first year as a head coach, has Dayton atop the Atlantic 10. With a big win already against #15 Alabama, Dayton did it again yesterday when they took out conference favorite Xavier 87-72. The Flyers are playing smart, disciplined and focused basketball and it’s all thank to Miller and his staff, one of whom is another former Wolfpacker, Simon Harris. Miller is doing...
Here is an excerpt we came across from AJC.com… Guard Ryan Harrow (Walton) knew it was time to leave North Carolina State when coach Sidney Lowe was fired. So he transferred to Kentucky, where he is sitting out this season under NCAA transfer rules. “Coach Lowe and I had a real close relationship,” Harrow told kentucky.com. “I’m kind of disappointed [about leaving] because I was a big fan of N.C. State. I still am, but Kentucky is going to help me reach my goals and what I’m going to do with basketball.” Harrow averaged 9.3 points as a freshman at...
The good news is that Dennis Horner made the New Jersey Nets opening day roster. The bad news? He only saw action in 5 games before being waived and sent back down to the D-League. MassLive.com reported the unfortunate news about the former Wolfpack forward. Horner scored 4 points in 8 total minutes of action with the Nets. He finished his NC State career averaging 12 points and 5 boards as a senior just two years ago. Dennis is now back with the Nets D-League team (The Springfield Armor)...
We’d like to congratulate former Wolfpack forward Dennis Horner was drafted in the 3rd round by the Springfield Armor of the NBA Developmental League. According to the Press of Atlantic City, Horner had been playing in Belgium last season when he realized that he would like to pursue his career closer to home. “I liked (playing overseas), but I just wanted to be with my family,” Horner told the Press. “I didn’t want to go back.” Horner played for State under Sidney Lowe after being recruited by Herb Sendek and was the lone player to stick around from his class after...
Ex-NC State head coach, who should be bettered remembered for his playing days as a Wolfpack legend at point guard on the 1983 National Championship team, was hired by the Utah Jazz today as an assistant. After his playing days, Lowe made his name in coaching by making his way up the ranks in the NBA as an assistant with the Timberwolves and then later as their head coach. He was most successful, however, in Detroit where he was an assistant under Flip Saunders. Lowe did not experience much success with NC State and after his fifth season he finally...
Former NC State Power Forward and Pitcher finally made his Major League debut last night for the New York Yankees. Brackman entered the game with two outs in the sixth inning. After closing out the inning, the former Wolfpack gunslinger pitched a scoreless seventh inning, around one hit, one walk, and one error. The Brack-Attack threw 20 out of his 32 pitches for strikes and was able to leave the stadium last night with a 0.00 ERA. “It’s just a big relief, like the pressure is off my shoulders,” Brackman told MLB.com, “Now I can sleep well at night and...
