Scouting The Competition
Scouting The Competition: UNC’s Barnes, Bullock, Henson, Hairston
We take another look at the Pack’s cross-town rival Tarheels as they match up for the second time against the Wolfpack freshmen at the NC ProAm in Durham. Team Stackhouse (UNC) edged Team McGladrey (State) by 8 in this one, but the game was filled with highlights from both sides. Here is the raw footage of UNC’s Barnes, Bullock, Henson and Hairston. You be the scout in this week’s ‘Scouting the Competition.’...
Scouting the Competition: Kyrie Irving (Duke-PG)
In this week’s scouting the competition we take a look at Duke’s incoming freshman point guard Kyrie Irving. Many scouts rank Irving as 2010′s top point guard and for good reason. The 6’2, 175lbs New Jersey native will give the Blue Devils the athletic, play-making point guard that they’ve been missing. Coming off of a national championship, Duke is once again picked to be the top dog in the ACC and Irving is part of the reason. Last Tuesday, Irving suited up against former Wolfpack players Courtney Fells and Josh Powell. At time he appeared to be the most talented...
Scouting The Competition: Duke (Plumlee, Curry)
Miles Plumlee- To be honest, when the game begun I didn’t recognize the Plumlee twin. Sporting a little more hair and a hipster beard, it was almost as if Miles was trying to go incognito in this Pro-Am game. That, however, didn’t last long as Plumlee quickly made his presence felt with a big time block followed by a thunderous dunk. Last season it seemed as if Miles was always a bit behind brother Mason both in terms of aggressiveness and skill level. I have yet to see Mason this season, but it seems as if Miles is slowly closing...
Scouting The Competition: Duke (Game 2:Part 1)
Scouting the Competition: DUKE (Game 2) Part 1 On the third night of the Pro-Am a few Duke players participated in their second outing of the summer. We were on hand to catch, scout and report on the future Blue Devils. Here is Ryan Kelly and Andre Dawkins (part 1) and stay tuned later to see part 2 with Miles Plumlee and Seth Curry. Ryan Kelly- As we mentioned in an earlier article, Ryan Kelly has shown a great deal of improvment this offseason. In high school, Kelly used a mix of inside and outside moves to dominate his opponents....
Scouting the Competition: UNC (Game 2)
In night two of the NC Pro Am NC State fans in attendance got the chance to scout some of their cross town rival Tarheels. Here is our second installment of Scouting the Competition: UNC...
Scouting The Competition: Duke (Game 1: Dawkins & Kelly)
Welcome to our second installment of “Scouting the Competition.” Today we’re taking a look at the the Duke’s rising sophomores Ryan Kelly and Andre Dawkins. Here is the rundown. Ryan Kelly: A ultra talented high schooler that NC State was once involved with, Kelly has all the tools to be a successful player at the college level. At 6’10 Kelly possesses a great skill set, capable of taking players off the dribble, beating them in the post or keeping them honest with a 3 ball from outside. For Ryan it has always been about where he fits in. Last season...

NC State 87 – Wake Forest 76 Boxscore  GAME RECAP NC State used a red hot Scott Wood (23 points) and solid performances from the rest of their starting five to out-gun the Demon Deacons 87.76. It was a true game of runs with Wake striking first thanks to Chase Fischer and Travis McKie doing damage early , but NC State stormed back using Woods hot hand. That had the Pack in it midway through the second half, but it wasn’t until late in the first that State really made their move and it wasn’t until midway through the second that they really got out to a sizable lead. State managed just 2 points off their bench and finished with a close rebounding margain but got very solid play from all 5 of their starters, limited the turnovers and got out on the break where they can be devastating. KEY STATS Wake played well tonight. They shot 50% from the field, 58% from 3 was only out-rebounded by three, but it wasn’t enough as State racked up 19 assists to only 9 turnovers as a team and turned that into 19 fast break points (to Wake’s 4). Player wise you have to look…
