Just how close was the State/UNC game last night? Closer than you think. Let’s take a closer look at the numbers. The Good -NC State matched one of the nation’s top rebounding teams 40-40 on the boards. This stat in itself should let you know that the Wolfpack competed hard against the Heels. They battled for every board and really took away their biggest advantage. -UNC makes their living in the paint. With a big time front court including NBA prospects Tyler Zeller and John Henson it’s pretty likely that they’re going to beat you in the middle. Last night however, that wasn’t the case. The NC State bigs went hard and beat UNC at their own game. In fact, State out scored the Heels 42-22 in the paint. I was really impressed by this. I thought in the first matchup State really just took it at UNC and thought they could out muscle them, but in this one they were more creative. Since it’s glory days, Hillsborough Street has seen a steady decline in business and foot traffic from NC State Students. Maybe it’s the lack of parking, or the lack of visual appeal that has people flocking elsewhere for fun on a Friday night, or maybe it’s jut that there is nowhere fun to go anymore. That is about to change. With Hillsborough Street undergoing a massive reconstruction process (creating round-a-bouts and putting all the power line and telephone lines underground) it is also getting what is about to be the hippest new spot on the old road. In case you...
