Recruiting Update: 2011 Not Yet Taking Shape for Lowe
RALEIGH, NC – Basketball recruiting updates have been few and far between as of late but there has been some moving and shaking over the past couple of days. We’ve been keeping close tabs on a few guys and here is what we’ve learned. Maurice Harkless (6’6 – 185lbs – F) – The 6’6 wing from the big apple was high on State’s list after he pulled his commitment to UCONN. The staff made a hard push, and was very visible on this one but Harkless has seemingly cooled on NC State. Recently Harkless, who gave the impression that he was...
Edwards: Uchebo’s Not Done Moving Up
(Photo/John Peregoy) 2011 NC State commit Joseph Uchebo has made a lot of noise in the recently updated national recruiting rankings, but his AAU coach Tony Edwards doesn’t think he’s done moving up the ranks. Edwards is the head coach of 17-U CP3 All-Stars, and according to him, the addition of Uchebo to the team has been a pleasant surprise. “Coaching Joseph has actually been a surprise. He has actually brought more to the table than I originally thought he would. Originally I thought he would be a strong ‘big’ that could rebound, and I could put him on the...

Joseph Uchebo: The Story Behind the Story
Growing up in southeastern Nigeria, the 6’10 Joseph Uchebo had rarely even picked up a basketball, let alone played in an organized game. Now, two continents, three years and now four schools later, it is the game of basketball that he hopes will shape his future. A member of the Igbo tribe in Nigeria  (one of the largest and most influential ethnic groups in the country) basketball was only an afterthought to Uchebo. Instead, he excelled on the soccer field thanks to a brother who, today, plays professionally in Germany (VIDEO). It wasn’t until someone noticed his enormous frame and...

Wolfpack Commit Uchebo Reclassifies to 2011
Joseph Uchebo committed to the Wolfpack earlier this year, giving Sidney Lowe a under the radar, big time talent in 2012. The only problem is that with All-ACC center, Tracy Smith, set to graduate after 2010, the Pack would sport a very thin frontline in ’11. Yesterday, we found out that is no longer a problem as Uchebo has decided to reclassify, moving from the ’12 class to  ’11.  “When I come from Nigeria I was supposed to be in 11th grade. When I moved here my coach put me back in the 10th grade. When my school found out...

NC State 87 – Wake Forest 76 Boxscore  GAME RECAP NC State used a red hot Scott Wood (23 points) and solid performances from the rest of their starting five to out-gun the Demon Deacons 87.76. It was a true game of runs with Wake striking first thanks to Chase Fischer and Travis McKie doing damage early , but NC State stormed back using Woods hot hand. That had the Pack in it midway through the second half, but it wasn’t until late in the first that State really made their move and it wasn’t until midway through the second that they really got out to a sizable lead. State managed just 2 points off their bench and finished with a close rebounding margain but got very solid play from all 5 of their starters, limited the turnovers and got out on the break where they can be devastating. KEY STATS Wake played well tonight. They shot 50% from the field, 58% from 3 was only out-rebounded by three, but it wasn’t enough as State racked up 19 assists to only 9 turnovers as a team and turned that into 19 fast break points (to Wake’s 4). Player wise you have to look…
