With the seconds ticking off the clock at the end of the first half, NC State commit David Amerson ran back a kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown to put the Panthers up 21-14 at the half. Dontae Johnson (S) – The Pennington School’s (6-3) 5-game winning streak was snapped in their final game of the regular season this past Friday night, in a 44-58 loss to King Low Heywood Thomas. Despite the loss, Dontae Johnson had a big-time performance, returning an interception 36 yards for a touchdown and reeling in 5 catches for 54 yards and a touchdown. Thomas Teal (DT) – Marlboro County (10-0) remained undefeated on Friday night, defeating Camden 14-7 in a low scoring battle. Defensive Tackle Thomas Teal, weighing in at 325 pounds, got his shot as the goal line running back on Friday, scoring all of Marlboro County’s points. Tyler Brosius (QB) – Tyler Brosius had a record breaking night this past Friday night, breaking the school record for the most consecutive games with at least 100 yards passing (24 games). In fact he had already broken this record by halftime, accumulating 268 yards passing in the first half. NC State Rides Wood in Victory Over Wake 87-76

NC State 87 – Wake Forest 76 Boxscore  GAME RECAP NC State used a red hot Scott Wood (23 points) and solid performances from the rest of their starting five to out-gun the Demon Deacons 87.76. It was a true game of runs with Wake striking first thanks to Chase Fischer and Travis McKie doing damage early , but NC State stormed back using Woods hot hand. That had the Pack in it midway through the second half, but it wasn’t until late in the first that State really made their move and it wasn’t until midway through the second that they really got out to a sizable lead. State managed just 2 points off their bench and finished with a close rebounding margain but got very solid play from all 5 of their starters, limited the turnovers and got out on the break where they can be devastating. KEY STATS Wake played well tonight. They shot 50% from the field, 58% from 3 was only out-rebounded by three, but it wasn’t enough as State racked up 19 assists to only 9 turnovers as a team and turned that into 19 fast break points (to Wake’s 4).
