Here is our VIDEO of NC State Power Forward Malik Abu talking with the media today at Media Day. Quotes below.

On the competition in the post…

“They say iron sharpens iron.  We compete every day on this court for practice.  When we go out there and play someone else I feel like it’s a cake walk because I feel like personally the best guys are in the gym with me at all times…my teammates…my brothers.  They are going to push me towards something that other people couldn’t.  So going out there and playing games against other teams is what you look forward to.

On most frustrating moment of last year…

“I wouldn’t say that there was one particular frustrating game.  Frustration was never from being angry at a particular moment.  I was mad that we were capable of so much more.  The frustration had more of a positive connotation.  We could do better and we are capable.  Towards the end of the season we got positive and it turned out pretty well.”

On what he has done to push himself in the offseason…

“The same thing I try to do every offseason…get better.  I try to find things.  Personally I feel like people can tell you every day that you’re great, or that you’re good, or that you’re going to do this, but I just try to have the mentality that I’m not good enough.  I can continue to get better and try to get better every day.”

On working on his midrange jump shot this offseason…

“I feel like I’m shooting a lot better.  It’s something I tried to take pride in this summer…getting into the gym and shooting the ball.  It’s really all muscle memory and consistency.  It’s something I’m still working on.  It’s not finished.  It’s definitely something I’m working on.”

On Cat Barber…

“Cat excelling at the end of the year didn’t surprise us.  It was something we knew and something we were looking forward to.  Even with me, I didn’t have the best start to the year, because some things take time.  It takes time to get comfortable and get in a groove.”
