NC State might have lost to ECU 30-33 on Saturday, and while it was extremely disappointing, the Wolfpack’s performance wasn’t without positive notes.

Offense

Running

Despite losing the game, NC State’s offense managed to put 497 yards on the ECU defense, which was 54 more yards than the Pirates offense.

Senior Matt Dayes rushed for over 100 yards for the second straight game, with 104, averaging 7.4 yards per carry.

Sophomore Reggie Gallaspy wins the award for the hungriest Wolfpack runner of the day. He rushed 5 times for 61 yards, but it was his 37-yard touchdown run, where he refused to go down, and trucked a dude in the secondary on his way into the end zone that was most impressive.

Passing

Ryan Finley didn’t complete 81% of his passes this week, but he played well. He completed 20 of 31 for 254 yards and 1 touchdown for a passing efficiency rating of 144. Finley also put his legs to work this week, rushing for 30 yards, with a touchdown to boot.

Receiving

Stephen Louis was predicted by many to be the player most likely to breakout from the wide receiver group. After a quiet outing against William & Mary, he screamed loud and clear this week. Louis caught three passes for 142 yards and a touchdown that went for 80.

Defense

While you don’t ever want your Safety to lead your team in tackles, Josh Jones did manage to tally 13 tackles. The need for him to do so is unfortunate, but props where props are due.

The Wolfpack collected a whopping 13 tackles for loss on Saturday against ECU. Airius Moore and Darian Roseboro lead the way with 4.5 and 2.5 respectively.

Cornerback Jack Tocho did a good job tackling in the open field, picking up 6, and also intercepted a pass, and broke up another.

Special Teams

AJ Cole III only punted twice, but he averaged 52 yards a pop. His leg was booming.
