Yesterday on Mike & Mike’s Radio Show, they talked College Football Playoff candidates that have one loss. The obvious schools like Clemson, Ohio St, Notre Dame and Oklahoma were in the conversation, but NC State found it’s way into the conversation.

Here’s what they had to say:

Golic: “Let me throw another team in there, and they would have to beat my Notre Dame team, a team that is sitting at #14 right now, and two weeks they could be in a very different position: North Carolina State. They play Notre Dame this weekend and Clemson the next. If they were to win those two games, do you think they are capable of that, and should they be in this conversation.”

Now. The irony of what Paul Finebaum is about to say brings a gigantic smile to my face. After NC State lost to South Carolina in the opener, Finebaum had some choice words for the Wolfpack.

“Outside the state(s) of North Carolina and South Carolina, try convincing anyone in America in the other 48 that beating NC State matters. NC State is a nobody, OK? One guy decided to declare NC State a final four team. As a result, oh well, NC State got beat. Oh, wow. NC State is NC State. It’s a basketball school…not even a good basketball school.”

Here’s what Finebaum said yesterday about the possiblity of NC State being in the conversation for the College Football Playoff if they were to beat Notre Dame & Clemson.

Finebaum: “Yes. I think they have to be. They lost early. They lost in the first game of the year. It’s not a great loss unless South Carolina gets on a roll and starts knocking teams off. They have Florida and will have Clemson, which would be interesting. But I think they (NC State) would have a big hill to climb. It would also depend on who they get in the ACC championship game.

I guess Finebaum doesn’t think NC State is a ‘nobody’ anymore.

Gorgeous.
