There is something special about 2020 NC State Point Guard target Jalen Cone (5’9”/150).

On Thursday night, the sophomore scored 46 points for Walkertown High School (Kernersville, NC) in their game against Glenn High School.

I caught up with Cone last night and here was his response to his HUGE performance:

“I was acting accordingly. I spend majority of my day working out,” said Cone. “So I felt I was suppose to put up numbers like that and getting the win.”

Plain and simple, his performance wasn’t a surprise to him.

NC State has actually been watching Cone since he was in middle school, and the switching of Wolfpack coaches hasn’t changed their interest one bit.

Coach Gottfried and Pierre started recruiting me my 8th grade year. Coach Keatts started recruiting me the beginning of my sophomore year.

Cone hears from NC State on a monthly basis, and told me that he thinks Keatts is a “real cool coach who knows what he’s doing!”

He took an unofficial visit to NC State on the first week of October.

Cone said that all schools are equal right now, but he does plan on taking visits to UCONN, Kentucky and Wichita St. in the future.
