Yesterday the NC State Board of Trustees stamped and approved Dave Doeren’s new contract.

Below you will see the breakdown of Doeren’s escalating base salary.
Below you will see the breakdown of how the annual supplemental, Non-Salary Compensation will decrease over time.
Also, Doeren has the opportunity to earn an additional $1.35 million annually for “incentive compensation for achieving athletic and academic performance goals.”

He received a one-time $750,000 increase to the football staff compensation pool. In year 1, he can offer three 3-year contracts to football staff members.
If NC State wins 8 games in year 1 or year 2 of the contract, $250,000 of his supplemental income will be converted to base salary.
Here is why this matters. It effects the payout if there is a buyout or termination of the contract. ITV there is a buyout of termination, he will get paid 100% of the current base salary for the remainder of the contract.
This is a way better buyout/termination agreem by than what he had before. Here is he prior b/t agreement:
$2,520,000 in 2017; $1,680,000 in 2018; $840,000 in 2019
in the prior contract, it decreased, and now it increases.
