Keatts talks Virginia Tech in this weeks ACC Teleconference : BULLETED

Kevin Keatts met with the media to discuss his team’s upcoming game vs. Virginia Tech on Wednesday night. Above is the full teleconference and below is the bulleted summary.

  • Team did a great job vs. Notre Dame. Stayed focus and got better throughout the week. Got a few days rest after UNC win and got to heal up, then worked on some things and responded well Saturday.
  • Assistant coach James Johnson used to coach at Virginia Tech. He and Keatts have the same overall coaching philosophy but have also learned a few different things along the way.
  • Lennard Freeman is doing great. He’s been getting rest in practice and limiting game time because he had numerous injuries and wanted him to make it through his senior year. Having the best year of his career.
  • Coaching in the ACC has been a challenge. Lots of great teams and great coaches. Lots of different styles. Best league in college basketball. Guys have responded well to new system and still improving. Guys are starting to play together and that is a big positive.
  •  Virginia Tech is unconventional. Buzz Williams does a great job coaching them. They can really shoot it well and are tremendous in transition. They will give lots of different looks on the defensive end.
  • They are able to switch 1 through 5. They get a lot of paint touches and they make good decisions.
  • VT is a really good basketball team and it will be an unbelievable challenge.
