The UNC 2017 National Championship sign 3 miles from where NC State plays is officially missing.

If you haven’t been following this story, the Department of Transportation granted UNC’s request to put up 2017 National Championship signs in 8 specific places across North Carolina. One of those places was off of I-40 just before Wade Ave and the Carter-Finley sign.

The stated goal was to place it where people leaving the airport would see it.

Wolfpack fans found UNC’s location request, which was granted by the DOA, to be a little out of place, considering it was 9.8 miles from the airport.

It was only a matter of time before this sign vanished.

This puppy was up less than a week.

UNC paid $2,000 for each of these signs to be up for a maximum of 2-years.

The DOT made a statement revealing they didn’t take down the sign, so you fill in the blanks.

I by no means am encouraging vandalism or stealing government property which is a felony. With that being said, UNC could have requested a more logical geographical location for their sign that wouldn’t have screamed of an intentional dig at a team they claim not to be their rival.
