NC State came into the matchup with Florida State on a mission. The Noles were one game behind NC State in the standings and sitting on the NCAA bubble, ranked #25. The Pack, meanwhile, was out to prove that not only were they a sure-bet NCAA tournament team but that they were one of the ACC’s best and they were the ones who deserved to be ranked in the nation’s Top 25.

NC State provided proof by delivering one of their most dominant performances of the season with a 92-72 home victory. They out-hustled, out-physicalled and out-shot the Seminoles, beating them in every aspect of the game.

Al Freeman led the way with another 20+ point performance, scoring 25pts and added 4 steals and Torin Dorn played like a man possessed on his way to 19 points and 5 boards.

Really, the Pack got great play from nearly every guy that stepped on the floor. Markell Johnson had 12 Yurtseven went for 13 and 8 and Sam Hunt continued his unconscious shooting, going 4-4 from long range on his way to 14 points. Hunt is now an insane 14 for last 17 from long range over the past 4 games.

As a team, State held Florida State without a 3 pointer on the night, forcing them into tough look after tough look. They also won the two areas we felt they had to control in order to get the W. They forced 14 turnovers and only committed 11. They also won the battle of the boards 37 to 31. They also, once again, shot over 50% from the floor, knocking down 50.8% of their shots from the floor, including an eye-popping 59% from 3pt range.

This win moves NC State into 4th place in the ACC and basically takes them off of the NCAA bubble. That’s right Pack fans, you can rest easy. 10 wins in the ACC and 20 wins overall is good enough with this team’s resume. But it’s no time to take their foot off the gas, they are now only 1 game back from UNC for 3rd in the ACC.

Next up is Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Thursday, followed by Louisville on Saturday to close out the regular season.
