Keatts presser after ACCT loss to Boston College : BULLETED

Published

on

Keatts met with the media to discuss his teams 2nd round ACC Tournament loss to Boston College. Above is the full video and below is the bulleted summary.

  • Congratulate BC. Great job in the first half. Guards played well. Scored for themselves but got everyone involved.
  • Team was slow getting started. Got in a big deficit early and had to battle back at halftime.
  • Talked about staying the course and guys did. Thought if we made some shots the press could get us back in the game. It did and had a chance to win it at the end .
  • Unfortunate. Guys battled hard for a win but came up short.
  • BC answered every time with a basket. Pretty exciting final 3 minutes of the game. Just couldn’t get over the hump.
  • Robinson and Bowman are good players and get into the paint. Can score on all 3 levels and finish around the rim. Good FT shooting team also. Could be the best backcourt in the ACC.
  • Approach was the same. A little different from time at UNCW where you had to win the conference tournament or there was no post season play. So a little different, but as far as prep, team was mentally prepared to win the game.
  • Going to gather as a team and watch the selection show on Sunday. Not sure where. Body of work is pretty good when you look at what we’ve done in a shsort amount of time and beating 5 top 25 teams and winning on the road against the #2 team in the country. Excited about it and excited for these guys to get the opportunity.
  • Next opportunity to play a game it could be the last chance the seniors have to play together. Can’t come out the way we did. Challenged these guys at halftime and they responded. Did a tremendous job in 2nd half.
  • Not sure why they didnt play well to start. Must take from this that one-and-done situations, you have to play the entire game. Must finish. Team was right there to win this game and certainly would have been great to do so.
  • Dorn on the bench changes the team. More success when using the 4 guard rotation and without Dorn it changes. Malik came in and did a good job but got in foul trouble. Definitely changes you.
  • Markell got caught in the moment with the timeout-technical. As a staff, we try to tell them how many timeouts we have and whose possession it is. He’s not to blame. He made a play, got to the hole and scored with 7 seconds left. Wanted them to go back and play defense but got caught up in the moment.
