ESPN: NC State’s Ryan Finley NOT 1 of the Top-50 Players in College Football? Wow.

Published

on

ESPN released their rankings of the top-50 players in college football heading into the 2018 season, and NC State quarterback Ryan Finley wasn’t on the list.

Wow.

It wasn’t as if they didn’t include a lot of quarterbacks on their list.

They included 14 of them.

3) Will Grier – West Virginia
9) Trace McSorley – Penn St
10) Jarrett Stidham – Auburn
11) Tua Tagovailoa – Alabama
14) Justin Herbert – Oregon
15) Jake Browning – Washington
16) Nick Fitzgerald – Mississippi St
19) Khalil Tate – Arizona
20) McKenzie Milton – UCF
25) Shea Patterson – Michigan
30) Jake Fromm – Georgia
32) Dwayne Haskins – Ohio St
35) Drew Lock – Missouri
38) Kyler Murray – Oklahoma

Ridiculous.

Last season, Finley was the 4th highest graded quarterback according to ProFootballFocus. He is the 2nd highest graded Power 5 quarterback returning in 2018 (#1 was Will Grier).

How do you get it this wrong ESPN?

NC State vs. FSU Kickoff Set for 3:30pm

Published

on

NC State’s homecoming matchup versus Florida State November 3rd has given a kickoff time of 3:30pm on either ESPN2 or ABC. It looks like Noon kickoffs are a thing of the past:)

The last time the Wolfpack played in the 3:30 time slot, they beat their arch-nemesis UNC last season 33-21. Last year, NC State was 1-2 in 3:30 games:

Notre Dame – 14-35
Clemson – 31-38
UNC – 33-21

NC State has really struggled in their homecoming games as of late, winning their last one back in 2011 against the 8th ranked Clemson Tigers.

NC State’s Depth Chart vs. Syracuse (with notes)

Published

on

NC State released their Depth Chart for their matchup against Syracuse at Dave Doeren’s weekly press conference at Noon. While it is identical to last weeks, there are a few notes below.

Notes

There were quite a few injuries that occurred in the Wolfpack’s loss to Clemson. Doeren had no update on the status of any of these players specifically, as he will be meeting with the trainer at 3:30 today. The only thing he had to offer was each player was doing “better.”

  • Starting Left Guard Terronne Prescod looked like he injured his back in the contest, and only played 41 snaps. A back injury kept him out of the Marshall game.
  • Starting Wide Receiver Stephen Louis left the game with what was thought to possibly be a broken leg, but word is that it might not be worst case scenario.
  • Running Back Ricky Person played well against the Tigers, but left the contest, and was on the sidelines on crutches. It looked like he re-injured his hamstring.
  • Wide Receiver CJ Riley also came up slowly in the contest.

We will have to wait until Thursday to talk to Doeren to see if there are any updates on the status of these 4 players.
