NC State released their depth chart for this Saturday’s road matchup vs. Marshall today at Wolfpack Head Coach Dave Doeren’s weekly press conference.

See Notes Below.

Notes

  • Redshirt Freshman Grant Gibson has been moved from Defensive Tackle to the Offensive Line, and has instantly joined the 2-Deep. Redshirt Junior Philip Walton is no longer backing up Sophomore Joshua Fedd-Jackson, because Gibson has taken the #2 spot. Doeren explained at the presser that Gibson wasn’t seeing reps at Defensive Tackle, and that the move made the team better, and Gibson better in the long run. He said Redshirt Sophomore Joe Sculthorpe is their 6th man on the Offensive Line, and that he can step in at Center if Bradbury goes down, or he can go pretty much play anywhere else on the line. Gibson had been taking some snaps at center during drills throughout Fall Camp, and played Center some in High School. Doeren mentioned that he could follow the same path that Redshirt Graduate Senior Center Garrett Bradbury took (D-Line to O-Line). It seems like Doeren thinks that Gibson could be Bradbury’s replacement in 2019, and Sculthorpe could step in for either Redshirt Senior Tyler Jones or Terronne Prescod on the Left Side of the Offensive Line after they graduate.
  • Redshirt Sophomore Cary Angeline is eligible, and has instantly moved into the starting role at Tight End as expected. Redshirt Sophomore Dylan Autenrieth is finally healthy and is slotted right behind him with an “OR” between their names. Doeren mentioned that having both of them will be a big boost in the rushing attack for the Wolfpack. He also mentioned that Angeline isn’t going to go in there and snag “30 catches” in a game right out of the gate. He has been playing with the scout team, and has just now moved over to the 1’s. It will take him time to adjust like any other player.
  • Freshman Ricky Person is out again this week again with a “muscle” injury, and that is why you see Redshirt Graduate Senior Brady Bodine behind Freshman Trent Pennix at the #3 spot at the Running Back position. Bodine took advantage of Person’s absence against Georgia State, leading the team in rushing, and picking up his 1st career touchdown.
