Freshman Running Back Ricky Person had 14 carries for 108 yards in NC State’s 35-21 victory over Virginia this afternoon. He averaged 7.7 yards per carry and had 4 explosive runs (10+ Yards). Person spoke with the media after the game. The video is ABOVE and a BULLETED breakdown of what he had to say is BELOW.

  • Today I was about 75-80%.
  • My demeanor and love for the game drove me to be out there today. Coach asked me everyday if I was sure, and I kept saying “Yeah coach.”
  • Of course it’s been hard to watch the past two games. It’s always hard to watch. I love my brothers to the death…to the fullest. But it’s something you have to do. It’s part of the game.
  • If it wasn’t for the the offensive line, I wouldn’t have had the incredible game I had today.
  • It’s a matter of getting in a rhythm. I was reading the defense real quickly.
  • It felt good. I knew my time was coming, and I just had to take advantage of it.
  • It meant a lot to get the game ball since I’ve been battling with injuries.
  • Reggie’s a big beast. Reggie’s the one who is helping me honestly. He’s a big part to the running game.
  • It meant a lot for the running game to be productive. We’ve been taking a lot of criticism. Everybody trying to say we can’t run the ball. We played with a little chip on our shoulder. ‘Let’s show people we can run the ball.’
  • You’ve got to be able to run the ball. If you can run the ball, every thing else will be easier.
  • Being 4-0 is great, but we have a mindset that we are 0-0 every day.
  • If I’d been 100%, I’d have gotten in the end zone on that run.
