PI EXCLUSIVE: #1 Player in NC Cam Hayes Talks NC State Offer

Published

on

NC State offered a scholarship to 5-star 2021 Point Guard Cam Hayes (6’1″/160) out of Greensboro Day School (Greensboro, North Carolina) 4 days ago, and we caught up with him to get his thoughts on the offer. Hayes is the #20 overall player in the 2021 class according to 247Sports, the #2 point guard, and the #1 overall player in the state of North Carolina.

What does receiving an offer from NC State mean to you?

“It meant a whole lot to receive an offer from NC State. I really like their playing style and think that Coach Keatts is a great coach.”

When did NC State start recruiting you?

“They started showing a lot of interest in me the earlier part of this year. The coaches watched a few of my games during the spring and summer while I played with Team CP3. They’ve also been in to Greensboro Day a couple times this month to watch me workout with my high school team.”

How familiar are you with NC State?

“I visited them for a basketball game my freshman year and sophomore year while I attended Smith High School. I watched them a lot on tv while Dennis Smith was there and continued to watch them when Coach Keatts came. Their former player Sam Hunt is like a big brother to me, and I also know some current players Blake Harris, Ian Steere and Manny Bates.

How did you receive the offer?

He said he really likes my game and enjoyed watching me play. He thinks that I will be a great fit for his program. Also he likes players who are good academically and he knows from my coaches that I am a good student.

What were your thoughts on the NC State vs. Virginia football game?

“I really liked the atmosphere. The crowd was amazing and energetic.”

5-Star F Josh Hall Sets Official Visit to NC State

Published

on

5-Star 2020 Forward Josh Hall (6’9″/190) has scheduled and Official Visit to NC State for the weekend of September 6th, which is the weekend the football team is hosting Western Carolina.

Hall has also scheduled an Official Visit to Louisville the week before.

Currently these are the only two Official Visit’s that Hall has on the books (you get a total of 5).

Hall was originally a member of the 2019 class, but reclassified to 2020.

The Wolfpack offered Hall back on April 3rd.

Rivals and 247Sports both list Hall as a Small Forward, and ESPN lists him as a Power Forward.

Hall plays for Moravian Prep in Hickory, North Carolina. ESPN and 247Sports both rank him as the #3 player in the state of North Carolina in 2020.

Rivals ranks him as the #25 player overall nationally in 2020.

Check out the conversation that I had with Hall shortly after picking up an offer from the Wolfpack.

PI EXLCUSIVE: Nick Farrar Talks NC State Commitment

Published

on

3-Star 2020 Power Forward Nick Farrar verbally committed to NC State on Wednesday, and I caught up with him to get his take on his reasons for choosing to run with the Wolfpack.

Making his college decision on August 7th wasn’t random for Farrar. He coordinated this with Coach Keatts, so he could commit on the anniversary of his mother’s death, who passed away when he was 7 years old.

“I had talked to Coach Keatts about the offer and committing for a while, so it wasn’t really early. It was just something we had planned to do for the day my mother passed.”

Farrar is a local talent (Apex Friendship High School), growing up with the dilemma of which Triangle squad to pull for. At an early age he made the wrong decision, but eventually saw the light.

“I started out with UNC, but it wasn’t long before I fell in love with NC State.”

Wolfpack Head Coach Kevin Keatts has been straight up with Farrar, and he appreciates that.

Coach Keatts is straight up with how he feels about my game, what I’m good at, and what I need to work on. The program is great, and I know a lot of staff and players as well.

Keatts has encouraged Farrar to continue to work on toning his body, and developing his right hand.

Farrar is a stretch 4, which is a body type that thrives in Keatts’ offense.

“I think State works well with undersized 4’s. With good guard skills and post up skills, I would be a good fit in that system, being an inside-out guy.”
