This week a huge chunk of ACC nation took a sigh of relief, learning on Wednesday that Spectrum would be carrying the ACC Network, which launches on August 22nd.

A week away from its debut, the ACC Network has been met with plenty of skeptics, but a recent distribution agreement with Charter (Spectrum) should make the launch smoother.

Charter Communications (NASDAQ: CHTR) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) have agreed to a multiyear deal that provides subscribers access to Disney’s streaming services, including Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ (launching on Nov. 12). Fans of Duke, UNC and NC State, through Spectrum TV, will have full access to the upcoming ACC Network, which debuts on Aug. 22.

The new agreement, announced Wednesday, is an expansion of the previous deal between the two companies. Spectrum TV subscribers will continue have access to ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN channels, SEC Network and Longhorn Network.

“Our new agreement with Charter allows us to continue serving Spectrum TV customers with the full value of the Walt Disney Television and ESPN networks, including the newly acquired FX and Nat Geo networks,” Sean Breen, senior vice president of Disney Media Distribution, said.

“ACC fans can also rest assured that they will be able to watch their favorite teams on Spectrum, one of the largest distributors across the ACC footprint, when ACC Network launches next week.” (TBJ)

The Wolfpack’s season opening game against the East Carolina Pirates will air on the ACC Network on August 31st.

NC State head coach Dave Doeren awarded a scholarship to walk-on Safety William Brown in the presence of his teammates, parents, and grandfather last night.

Brown is a 5th year player, pursuing a graduate degree in engineering this year.

“It’s his 5th year here. College graduate in 4, going into grad school in the school of engineering, and has done everything we’ve asked him to do,” said Dave Doeren. “Everything. And in front of his parents, and grandfather, you’re on scholarship.”

Brown graduated in May Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering. He is a member of the NC State University Scholars Program.

Stephen Igoe of 247Sports ranked the ACC Football coaches heading into the 2019 season, and NC State head coach Dave Doeren ranked 4th on the list.

Don’t look now, but Doeren has quietly built NC State into a consistent 7-9 win program annually. If not for Clemson being in its own division, the Wolfpack would likely have at least an ACC championship game appearance or two by now. Since going 3-9 in a challenging Year 1 in Raleigh, Doeren has rattled off win totals of eight, seven, seven, nine and nine the last five seasons to run his record at NC State to 43-34. Prior to that, he went 23-4 in two years at Northern Illinois, taking the Huskies to the Orange Bowl. All in all, Doeren is 66-38 as an FBS head coach. That’s very successful. The one knock on Doeren has been his inability to get over the hump in big ACC games the last few seasons. He’s yet to tally a double-digit win season with the ‘Pack, and a few chances to upset Clemson has slipped through the team’s grasp. And he’s just 20-28 in AAC action during his six seasons with NC State. (247)

Redshirt Freshman Linebacker Payton Wilson came to NC State as the highest ranked member of the 2018 recruiting class. Wilson is one of the highest ranked commits in Wolfpack history, ranked 39th nationally according to 247Sports.

Unfortunately, Wilson re-injured his knee last summer, and had to have a second surgery, missing all of last season. Wilson had every reason to complain over the past two years, but his trust in God throughout the process was unwavering.
