NC State Suspends RB Damontay Rhem

Redshirt Senior Running Back Damontay Rhem has been suspended by NC State after being arrested for assault on a female.

NC State’s official statement:

“We’re aware of the charges and await additional details. Damontay is suspended from athletic participation pending resolution of this matter in accordance with the NC State Student-Athlete Code of Conduct,”

After transferring from UNC-Pembroke, Rhem redshirted the 2017 season as a preferred walk-on. He was awarded a scholarship prior to the start of last season. After missing the first 5 games due to injury, Rhem saw action in the remaining 8 games (3 strictly special teams).

2018 stats: 9 carries for 34 yards, 2 receptions for 13 yards, 1 kickoff return for 15 yards, 4 special teams tackles.

Rhem was arrested last Thursday, April 4th, and is being held without bail.
