NC State’s Chris Ingram Cited for Discharging a Weapon Within City Limits

Published

on

NC State Junior Cornerback Chris Ingram was cited earlier this week for discharging a weapon within city limits, when his rifle accidentally fired in his apartment on Sunday night.

Fortunately the apartment next door was unoccupied, because the bullet did go through the wall.

As you can see in the video below, the rifle was no pellet gun.

Ingram only played in 6 games in 2019, suffering a season ending injury, but has been a starter the past two seasons.

NC State’s football program hasn’t responded to this incident.

UPDATED: NC State Linebacker Payton Wilson Arrested Early this Morning

Published

on

UPDATED: In quoting Giglio’s article below, which states that the fraudulent ID that Wilson used was his brother’s, I connected that to Thayer Thomas, who isn’t even his brother in a moment of confusion on my part.. I apologize to Thayer and his family for making that assumption. It has since been redacted.

UPDATED: According to Joe Giglio of the News & Observer, Wilson was consuming alcohol, which isn’t shocking considering he was charged for having a fake ID. Apparently Payton fled into traffic, was hit by a car, then proceeded to hide under another.

NC State Redshirt Freshman Linebacker Payton Wilson was arrested early this morning around 2am for possession of a fake ID, injury to personal property, and resisting a police officer.

Apparently this took place at 500 Glenwood Ave., which would either be Carolina Ale House or Vidrio.

NC State’s football program has yet to respond to the situation.

Wilson led the Wolfpack in tackles in his first year (69), becoming the first Freshman to do so since Jesse Campbell did so in 1988.

Former NC State All-American Vaughan Johnson Passes Away at 57

Published

on

Vaughan Johnson, one of the best players to ever play the Linebacker position at NC State, sadly passed away on Thursday at the age of 57.

Johnson is 1 of 24 Wolfpack players in school history to earn 1st Team All-American honors (1983).

The native of Morehead City, North Carolina, played in Raleigh from 1980-83, starting his final two years, leading NC State in tackles as a Junior (167) and as a Senior (144).

The 6’3″, 230 pound linebacker was a scary sight for offensive players.

Johnson’s 384 career tackles rank 6th all-time in school history, and his 167 tackles in 1982 are tied for the 4th most in a single-season.

He went on to be one of the best NFL players in NC State history, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl in 4 consecutive seasons from 1989-92 with the New Orleans Saints. Johnson earned 2nd Team All-Pro honors in 1989.

Vaughan’s 669 career tackles in the NFL rank 4th by a former Wolfpacker.

He was inducted to the Saints Hall of Fame in 2000.
