NC State Football announced their 2019 Captains yesterday: Graduate Senior Defensive End James Smith-Williams, Redshirt Senior Safety Jarius Morehead, Senior Cornerback Nick McCloud, and Redshirt Junior Tight End Dylan Autenrieth.

Smith-Williams enters the 2019 season as the #3 Freak on The Athletic’s annual list. 2018 was his first year as a starter, tallying 9.5 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. He graduated in December with a degree in Business Supply Chain Management, and earned All-ACC Academic honors.

McCloud played in 11 games in 2018, and started in each one, after starting in 8 games total as a Freshman and Sophomore. His 8 pass breakups ranked 9th in the ACC last year, and he also intercepted 2 passes. McCloud’s 51 tackles ranked 4th on the team last year.

Morehead started all 13 games for NC State last year, and is entering his third year as a starter for the Wolfpack. He was the 2nd leading tackler last season, tallying 81 stops.

Autenrieth is the only non-Senior to earn Captain status in 2019. You might not even recognize his name, because he is the epitome of an unsung hero. Autenrieth started 8 games last year, and only had 2 receptions for 27 yards, but he is an essential component in the Wolfpack’s rushing attack.
