NC State Awards Scholarships to 5 Walk-Ons Jeopardy Style

With less than a week away from NC State’s season opener against ECU, head coach Dave Doeren awarded 5 more walk-on players scholarships last night Jeopardy style.

All 5 of the players receiving scholarships last night played high school football in North Carolina.

Redshirt Junior Will Dabbs started at NC State as a Safety, switching to Running Back last year. Dabbs played one snap last year against East Carolina. He played for Morehead High School in Eden, North Carolina.

Redshirt Junior Tight End Thomas Ruocchio played 4 snaps as a Freshman against Furman, and saw action in 3 games last year at Tight End. He played on Special Teams in all 13 games last year. Ruocchio played at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Redshirt Sophomore Punter Trenton Gill has been battling Mackenzie Morgan all camp long. Gill played for Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Last season, Gill had 3 kickoffs against ECU, with 1 of them resulting in a touchback.

Redshirt Sophomore Offensive Guard Charles Fletcher played Rose High School in Greenville, North Carolina. He saw 8 snaps against ECU, and 1 against Texas A&M last year.

Redshirt Sophomore Offensive Lineman Liam Ryan played for Cary High School in Cary, North Carolina. He enrolled at NC State in January after spending last year at Fork Union Military Academy.
