Through 6 games, NC State is one of the best teams in the nation at stopping the run, ranking 5th nationally in Run Defense, holding opponents to 66.7 yards per game on the ground.
The Wolfpack have held 5 of their 6 opponents under the century mark, which hasn’t been done in almost 15 years. The last time NC State held opponents to under 100 yards rushing in 5 of 6 games was in the middle of the 2005 season.
The success isn’t shocking really. Doeren and is defensive staff, have built a brand of being one of the best in the ACC in stopping the run over the past couple of years. Currently they rank 1st in the ACC in Run Defense, and have been ranked in the Top-3 in the conference the past four seasons, and have ranked in the Top-30 in the nation in each of those years.
