Back on December 9th, news broke that De’Von Graves had submitted his name into the Transfer Portal. The former 4-Star prospect has found his new home, transferring to Northern Arizona.

Because Northern Arizona is an FCS school, Graves will be able to play for the Lumberjacks immediately in 2020, with 2 years of eligibility remaining, as well as a redshirt season he has never used.

Graves just wrapped up his Sophomore season in Raleigh, and logged an astronomical amount of reps, playing right under 600 snaps on the year. He started the year as Jarius Morehead’s backup at Strong Safety, but still saw significant playing time. After all of the injuries at the Cornerback position, Graves was moved to Cornerback. He started in 4 of the 11 games he played in this year, finishing with 23 tackles, 4 pass breakups and 1 forced fumble.

With the graduation of Jarius Morehead at Strong Safety, Graves was set to start for the Wolfpack next season, which makes this move a strange one from a distance.

With Nick McCloud and Chris Ingram returning as starters at Cornerback next season, maybe Graves wanted to play cornerback, instead of moving back to Safety.

Graves was a 4-Star prospect in the Wolfpack’s 2018 recruiting class.
