At Dave Doeren’s Weekly press conference today, it was revealed that Senior Linebacker Louis Acceus has made the difficult decision to no longer play football due to medical reasons, which are a “continuation” from last years injuries, which led him to miss the final 4 games of the year.
Despite walking away from playing the game, Acceus isn’t walking way from the game. He will be serving as a Student Coach under Dave Doeren at NC State this year.
“It’s hard to see any player not be able to play the game he loves so much, but it’s especially hard when it’s a player like Lou who has done everything right and contributed so much to our team,” said Doeren. “I’m glad that he will continue to be a part of the program as a student coach and even though his journey has taken a different course, I know that he will be successful in life.”
“As much as it hurts to give up the game I love, I’m glad that I’ll still be a part of the program and be out there with my brothers,” Acceus said. (GoPack)
This is a major blow for the Wolfpack in 2020. Acceus was NC State’s highest graded Linebacker in 2019, and was a lock to start as a Senior this year. He was the Wolfpack’s 2nd highest graded overall player on defense last year.
According to the depth chart released today, it looks like Sophomore Drake Thomas will fill the void, with an “OF” between his name and Redshirt Junior Vi Jones.
