NC State’s Monday game against William & Mary was canceled due to COVID concerns, but the Pack quickly added a game against UMASS Lowell. That game will be played today and we’re here to give you what you need heading into that matchup.

Although this game was a late add, it doesn’t mean it’s going to be a walk in the park for the Wolfapck. In fact, this UMASS Lowell team was leading #23 Ohio State with 10 minutes to go in the 2nd half during their matchup just a few days ago. The Buckeyes eventually came back and won by 10, but it’s worth noting that this team has talent.
They are currently led by Obadiah Noel, a 6’4 senior do-it-all guard who put 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists on Ohio State. Noel actually averages 24 ppg and leads his team in most offensive categories and is likely a future NBA player. Just check out his highlights and see for yourself…
As for the Wolfpack, this is a much-needed game. They finally will get to face an elite scorer and a team that is a notch up from anything they’ve seen thus far. With UCONN and Michigan coming up next, NC State desperately needed one more game to get the young guys acclimated and the team meshing as a whole.
Against UMASS Lowell, look for the Wolfpack to go to Funderburk early and often. The River Hawks start 3 forwards, but none are taller than 6’8. They were badly outrebounded by Ohio State and NC State should have a similar advantage with the 6’10 Funderburk and the 6’11 Manny Bates.
If the Pack can make it hard on Noel and control the boards, NC State should come away with the victory. But lapses on defense and allowing UMASS Lowell to spread them out and get to the rim will make this tough outing.
