Case of the Mondays: Post ACC Tournament Edition

Published

on

Sometimes you wake up thinking you’re going to have a great week…and then Monday slaps you in the face. So let’s get angry about some stuff.

The Yearly Reminder State Hasn’t Been a Winner in Awhile…

While I wasn’t 100% pumped up for the NIT bid, it was still good to know I can turn on my TV Thursday and watch the guy’s play at least one more. Then…then I saw this tweet chain…

The most recent titles for State’s three prime men’s sports; Football 1979, Basketball 1989 and Baseball 1992. Damnit.

This isn’t to say that State is a bottom feeder every year. Nor does it imply that I think State can be a champ year in and year out in a big, tough conference. It’s more so the frustration thinking about the years that we were close or had the pieces and fell short. Also was reminded by that image, that Wake Forest has damn ACC titles in ALL THREE, all in the 2000’s.

Yes…that Wake Forest…the one that kept their name Wake Forest, even though they are no longer in Wake Forest…GTFO

Davidson Versus NC State…in Texas?

I know, I know, I know…the NIT is in Texas, they have to make a bubble, yada, yada, yada.

All I’m saying, in a direct to the point fashion, is how bummed I am that this couldn’t be in North Carolina with fans in attendance. If we aren’t going to the Big Dance, then I wanna have a fun time in the back alley of a small, private liberal arts college…Screw Texas

The Love Affair with Duke

I should be used to it by now, but I’m not. The amount of irrationally high love the media gave Duke this last week makes me sick.

-Hurt was, for a three minute span with visual split screen, compared to Larry Bird.

-The ACCT was everything for Duke because, and I quote, “Look at them…the bench is standing…they really want this.” And they said that on the broadcast multiple times…

-I’ve heard people discussing whether the reason Duke isn’t in the NCAAT, is purely because of this COVID outbreak…ummmm, no.

-Durham is apparently the best city in America for college basketball fans?

-This one was fun…

This tweet single-handedly put my phone’s life in jeopardy. The Lord had me talking to the Lord.

I love when folks bring up about how Duke never has coaching issues and a strong lineage. Maybe it’s because YOU HAVEN’T CHANGED COACHES IN 40 YEARS. There will be a day in five or so years (maybe sooner if this Black Magic Kit I bought actually works), that Duke and UNC will start the beautiful coaching carousel to find their replacements. All of a sudden, things look a little different. The mystique of the program shifts slightly.

Maybe they won’t even get all the ref’s calls…..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH jk, jk…GTFO

Myself

Last Thursday’s State game was a rough one (No I didn’t throw up again at Flying Saucer, thank you very much…jerks…). I truly thought we had a chance, but it became evidently clear, about five minutes in, that wasn’t the case.

I wanted to see it be close and the Pack continue to put up a good fight.

Also, I didn’t want to see a guy named Buddy destroy us.

Welp, lost both “wants” there.

It’s just crazy being a State fan and telling yourself “we got this” and then somehow, someway, getting yourself to believe it. Actually…spin zone. We have the power of mind control. Granted it’s only on yourself, but still, borderline superheroes around here!

Just hope the Davidson game goes better and WBB start the Tourney hot, or else? GTFO
