Former NC State Defensive Tackle, and NFL Journeyman, looked as if he was on his way to securing a roster spot with the Vikings.
McGill finished the preseason with 3.5 sacks, which ranked 2nd in the NFL.
Initially, it was reported that McGill was released today.
Then it was revealed that he wasn’t released, but that he was placed on the IR, after suffering an ankle injury over the weekend.
Where does that leave McGill currently? Honestly, I’m not sure, but McGill has a way of persevering, hanging around, and finding an NFL roster one way or another.
Since 2015, McGill has signed with 10 different NFL teams, including 3 stints with the Chargers and 2 with the Eagles. McGill only saw game action on 5 of those squads. On those other occasions, he was a part of the team during the offseason, training camp or practice squads during the season.
One way or another, McGill has found a way onto the field in all 7 seasons since leaving NC State.
McGill has collected 35 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 8 tackles for loss, 21 QB hits, in 46 games played (0 starts) over 7 seasons.
