After defeating UCONN 41-10 tonight, NC State has improved to 4-0 on the year. Below are some notes, thoughts and tidbits on the victory.

  • NC State is now 3-0 all-time against UCONN.
  • NC State has now won 13 straight games at home, the 5th longest streak in the FBS.
    • It’s the 2nd longest streak in school history (16 wins – Lou Holtz – 1972-75).
  • QB Devin Leary moved into 4th place in NC State history in career touchdowns, after throwing 4 tonight.
    • Leary finished the night 32/44 for 320 yards and 4 touchdowns (1 interception).
  • WR Thayer Thomas caught his 22nd career touchdown reception, giving him sole possession of 2nd place in school history.
    • Thomas finished with 5 receptions for 115 yards, and 8 targets…all three being team highs.
  • In my opinion, one of the most important things that needed to happen tonight was for WR Devin Carter to come out of his shell. Mission accomplished.
    • Entering the game, Carter had been targeted 11 times through 3 games (2nd most on team), but had only 4 receptions to show for it.
    • Tonight, Carter had 5 receptions, on 6 targets, for 63 yards and a touchdown.
  • WR Porter Rooks (SO) caught his first career touchdown.
    • He finished with 5 receptions for 45 yards.
  • WR Keyon Lesane (JR) also caught his 1st career touchdown.
    • He finished with 5 receptions for 25 yards.
  • RB Demie Sumo-Karngbaye rushed for 49 yards on 4 carries, averaging 12.3 yards per carry, and also had a 20-yard touchdown run. He didn’t play in the 2nd half because of an upper body injury, but Doeren said after the game that he was fine, and would expect him to be good to go.
  • With the absence of RB Jordan Houston tonight, and the exit of Sumo-Karngbaye, an opportunity was created to see what True Freshman 4-Star Running Back Michael Allen was made of.
    • He made quite the impression, leading the Wolfpack with 10 rushes for 66 yards.
  • RS-SO NT Joshua Harris picked up his first career sack.
