PI EXCLUSIVE: A Q&A with NC State Commit 3-Star Hybrid Defender Rohan Davy

Published

on

3-Star 2023 Hybrid Defender Rohan Davy committed to NC State yesterday, and I was able to catch up with him to get his thoughts on his commitment.

NC State offered you back in February. Did they continue to recruit you after you committed to Cincinnati?

After I committed to Cincinnati, they laid off and respected my decision, and told me they love me as a player, and that I always had a home there.Β

What did you do on your Official Visit to Raleigh?

We checked out the facilities and checked out the bowl practices. I got the real energy from the players and the coaches during practice. My favorite part of the Official Visit was the practice. They were getting after it, competing, but also having fun. They were showing you can be serious, but also enjoy yourself.

How did the Coaches say you would fit in their defensive scheme?

They told me I’m a defensive hybrid, and I could play all over at every level.

What was it about NC State that led you to commit to run with the Wolfpack?

The system. The 3-3-stack. They are one of the only teams left in college football that runs it. You just have so much productivity the way they run it. Coach Gibson signing his 3-year contract extension. The way he sat down and went over the x’s and o’s with me. The way he took his time. The fact that he’s also the Linebacker’s coach, which is a strong suit to my game.Β

What was your familiarity with NC State?

My O-Line Coach, his son went to NC State. A lot of the coaches at my high school knew a lot about NC State. They told me it’s a great environment, and I should check it out for myself, and see it with open eyes.Β

What was your interaction like with Coach Doeren?

Coach Doeren is a real honest guy. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything. He was upfront. He also took time to get to know my mother, and that was really a big part of it.Β

What are you going to be working on to prepare for your Freshman season?

I’m just going to be building my body up and working on my explosion. Sharpening my defensive back and linebacker skills.Β

What were your Senior Season stats?

I had 76 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 8 pass breakups, 2 sacks,Β

Davy told me he will be enrolling in the Fall.
