Former NBA All-Star Zach Randolph was on Paul George’s (Podcast P) this week, and they discussed NC State’s DJ Burns.

Burns’ game has been compared to Randolph’s throughout his career. Both players are bigger players, that possess twinkle toes and polish around the rim.

Here’s what Randolph had to say about Burns:

“I like him. I like the kid, man. When he first came on the scene in the Tournament, he was making big waves. The young man is very smart. He’s invested his money. He’s buying vending machines. He’s trying to get into clothes and music. His mind is developing. He has so much stuff he wants to do. For me, I told him from a basketball standpoint, just get in the best shape you can. Lose as much weight as you can. Work on your shot.”

“You know, the game has changed. The NBA has changed. They play a different style. I told him just go out there and get your money, work hard and believe in your self.”

Paul George pointed out that Burns had lost 45 points, and Randolph said “I told him he was looking good.”

“His touch is so soft. He can shoot the ball. I like the kids game. He’s good. He’s just got to keep working and not get discouraged.”

“I think San Antonio would be good. Pop would put him in the right positions.”
