3-Star 2025 EDGE Mykah Newton (6’3″/250) Took an Official Visit to NC State this past weekend. I caught up with him to get his thoughts on the experience.

Walk through the visit. What did you do? Where did you go? Who did you meet?

We did a lot of getting to know the coaching staff more, touring the place and also getting to know the players. I also met Isiah Shirley he was my host, and I met Red Hibbler also.

What was the message from the coaches to you?

The message was letting me know how much I am a priority for them, that they are going to keep recruiting me hard, and how much I would fit into their defensive scheme.

How do you think NC State might be a good fit for you?

Yes, I do think they are a good fit for me.

What was your favorite part?

My favorite part was how Coach Doeren was very active in the events. That stood out to me. He was engaging with the players also.

Where does NC State stand in your recruitment?

They stand in a healthy spot to me, honestly.

What do you like about the Wolfpack?

What I like about the Wolfpack is that it felt like family and the coaches are very down to earth. I also like the community.

Do you have any other visits scheduled?

I also have UCF set up for 14-16th of this month.

_______

Newton plays for Newberry High School (Newberry, Floriday) down in the sunshine state. His Junior stats last season were extremely impressive, racking up 62 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 13 sacks.

NC State offered Newton last week on May 13th, and he also holds offers from UCF, Michigan St., Georgia Tech, UCONN and others.

Newton took an Official Visit to Michigan State already (May 31-June 2), and has one scheduled for UCF this weekend.
