247Sports has released their Talent Composite rankings heading into the 2024 football season, and NC State ranks 40th. The Wolfpack rank 7th in the ACC.

The Talent Composite Rankings is based off the High School Recruiting Ranking of every player on the team.

For perspective, NC State ranked 38th in 2023 in the Talent Composite Rankings, and finished the season ranked 21st in the AP Poll. Doeren and his staff continually prove they know how to develop talent.

As you will see below, Recruiting Rankings are sometimes accurate in projecting College Football Stars, and sometimes they aren’t.

If you’ve ever wondered why Quarterback Grayson McCall plays with a chip on his shoulder, his high school ranking is the lowest of anyone on the Wolfpack roster. He was only a 2-Star prospect.

A few other names:

Linebacker Sean Brown is going into his 2nd year as a starter, and is a captain this season. He’s the third lowest player in these rankings.

Ja’Had Carter is the 8th lowest ranked player, and is starting at Nickelback. He transferred in from Ohio State this offseason, and formerly was a Freshman All-American at Syracuse.

Left Tackle Anthony Belton is the 9th lowest ranked player, and is projected by ESPN to be a first round draft pick next Spring.

Of the 19 former 4-Star players on the roster, 4 of them are True Freshman. If you subtract them out, 15 Non-Freshman 4-Star players are on team. Only 5 of them are starters: Center Zeke Correll (the highest ranked player on the roster), Defensive End Davin Vann, Defensive End Travali Price, Nose Tackle Brandon Cleveland and Wide Receiver Dacari Collins.
