Redshirt Junior Linebacker Caden Fordham met with the media for his postgame press conference after NC State’s 30-20 win over Louisiana Tech. You can watch it ABOVE, and read the transcript BELOW.

Hey, Caden, what was the biggest difference between the first and second half, you know, defensively from your point of view?

We just came out with more energy, I would say, the second half.

You know, Sean Brown in the locker room rallied the boys together. And we came out with a different energy. And Davin Vann made that first play that sparked us.

And, you know, he’s a great player. He’s a captain who brings energy to this defense. And that’s the place we need.

And after that, we knew we all had to start playing the same. So that was one of the biggest things.

Rob, go ahead.

Mood right now with guys stepping up that don’t normally play.

It’s a 53-man team. Yeah, no doubt.

I know all those guys on this team, anytime their number’s called, they’ll be ready to play. And that’s what we’re going to have to keep doing. We’re going to have to get back and get better.

And we’re going to need guys to step up. And that’s what we’ve seen today. So hopefully we can keep it going.

Devon Marshall, Jackson Vick and Corey Coley stepping up

Yeah, no doubt. It sucks to see your boy go out, Cisse. But no, those guys, Corey and Marshall, they definitely stepped up.

And those guys were ready. They’re always locked in in practice. They’re guys that know when their number’s called, we can count on them.

So it was huge to see that.

Opinion on CJ Bailey

CJ, his arm is ridiculous, in my opinion. The throws he can make and the velocity behind his throws, it’s really tough to defend sometimes. If you’re not on the spot, the ball will be there before you know it.

And then also he’s sneaky fast, you know, he’s got long strides. So getting him in the run game on draws in certain plays like that, it’s huge and hard to defend.

What’s it going to take to get the defense to play a whole game?

Yeah, just it starts in practice, you know, the way we approach every practice and the communication on the field, you know, we got some new guys to continue and build that bond between us. But yeah, I would say it mainly starts in practice with communication and how we practice and how fast we practice.
