Tomorrow, NC State Head Coach Dave Doeren will face Northern Illinois, his former team, for the first time in his career.

After serving as an Assistant Coach at Drake, Montana, Kansas, and Wisconsin from 1995-2010, Dave Doeren received his first opportunity to be a Head Coach at Northern Illinois in 2011.

Doeren only coached the Huskies for two years, but they were up to that point, the two best seasons in Northern Illinois history.

In his first season in DeKalb, Doeren led the Huskies to an 11-3 record, tying the school record for wins in a single season, which had been set the year before. Northern Illinois won the MAC Championship for the first time since 1983. The following year, Doeren led the Huskies to break the school record for wins in a single season, finishing with a 12-2 record in 2012. Northern Illinois won the MAC title for the second consecutive season, and advanced to their first ever BCS Bowl, playing #13 FSU in the Orange Bowl.

Northern Illinois finished the season ranked 22nd in the AP Poll, which is the only time in school history that the Huskies have finished in the Final AP Top-25.

Dave Doeren never lost a home game in two seasons in DeKalb.
