NC State’s Offensive Football Stat Leaders Heading into Syracuse Game

NC State will host Syracuse on Saturday night in Carter-Finley Stadium at 8pm. Here’s a look at the Wolfpack’s offensive statistical leaders heading into the contest.

Passing

Yards – CJ Bailey – 741 yards

Completion Percentage – Grayson McCall – 66.3%

Touchdowns – CJ Bailey – 4

Interceptions – CJ Bailey – 3

Passing Efficiency Rating – CJ Bailey – 130.3

While it wasn’t the plan heading into the 2024 season, True Freshman CJ Bailey has played more than Redshirt Senior Grayson McCall.

Rushing

Yards – Kendrick Raphael – 251 yards

Touchdowns – Kendrick Raphael – 3

Yards Per Carry – Kendrick Raphael – 5.8

Through 6 games, Raphael has been NC State’s most productive running back, despite not being the starter. Redshirt Senior Jordan Waters has been the Wolfpack’s starter, but despite having 19 more carries than Raphael, he has only rushed for 246 yards (4.0 yards per carry).

Raphael ranks 9th in the ACC in yards per carry.

Receiving

Receptions – Kevin Concepcion – 37

Yards – Justin Joly – 313

Touchdowns – Kevin Concepcion – 4

Yards per Catch – Justin Joly – 15.7

Targets – Kevin Concepcion – 58

Concepcion is tied for the lead in the ACC in receptions, and is tied for 5th in touchdown receptions.

It’s not shocking that Sophomore Kevin Concepcion leads the Wolfpack in receptions. What is shocking is that he only has 266 yards receiving though 6 games, which projects to 532 yards at the end of the regular season. For perspective, KC finished with 839 yards as a True Freshman.

It’s obvious that NC State is trying to do everything they can to get KC the ball, despite the results not being as effective as last year. With that being the case, I would love for NC State to get Joly more touches.

Concepcion has literally been targeted twice as much as Justin Joly, who has the 2nd most targets. I love KC, and he should be highly targeted, but when you have Joly, Rogers and Grimes, there needs to be a more intentional effort to spread the wealth. The result would likely lead to an increase in KC’s production, with opposing defense’s no longer able to key in him alone.
