You compete in practice with DK (Kaufman) all the time. What is it like to see him have so much success?

I’m very happy for him. A guy like him, he’s a hard worker.

He’s battled through some things this year. But I’m very happy for him. I enjoy seeing guys like him succeed.

Second year in a row now that you all seem to be turning the tide as the weather gets colder, as you move closer into November, and the end of the season. What about this team and this culture allows you all to do that with only three games left in the season.

We kind of just focus on staying resilient.

Never letting the bad things dictate how we’re going to come out and play. And we just persevere through a lot.

You lead the country in forced fumbles now. I was just wondering what you think you’re doing particularly well on the field that’s created that much disruption?

I actually didn’t know that. That was just kind of something that I was really focused on during the offseason was just being more ball conscious. Every time I can get around the ball, whether it’s strip attempts, tipping the ball for picks, whatever the case might be, just being more ball conscious when I’m around the ball.

How have you seen CJ Bailey grown as a leader throughout his time when he’s been a starter here?

I’ve seen him grow a lot. He’s starting to talk a lot more, starting to demand respect through the way he plays.

Kind of just being that spark for the offense and not just the offense, but the defense and the team as a whole. I’m really excited for what the future has for him. And I think he’s going to be a great leader for this program.

Y’all knew you were going up against some athletic quarterbacks in Daniels and Lamsom. They got into Daniels a few times, but it seems like more often than not, y’all were winning those battles at the line of scrimmage and being able to make those stops in the run game. What does it mean to make those stops early and often to really set the Cardinal’s behind the chains?

It means a lot. That quarterback was very elusive. He was smart with the ball.

He didn’t just take off the run. He kind of waited for his blocks to get there and then would find the rush lanes that way. So, getting those stops early on and continuing to get those stops was a big deal, especially against a quarterback that athletic and that smart with the ball.
