Senior Guard Breon Pass had a career night in NC State’s 97-66 win over USC Upstate in their season opener tonight. He scored 14 points, which was a new career high. Pass was 5 for 8 from the field, and 2 for 4 from three.

He spoke with the media after the game. You can watch the video ABOVE, and read the transcript BELOW.

What was it like watching the banners go up, and how much juice did that give you?

A lot. It showed what we did last year. To see it go up was just amazing.

How do you feel like you guys played tonight?

We showed y’all how NC State Basketball is going to be played. We did what we were supposed to do, and we’re going to stack days from here.

Obviously this team isn’t the same as last year, but how much will having those banners up there add motivation?

Like we said earlier in the year, the new guys that came in saw what we did last year, and that added a little bit of motivation for them. We want to get back to that, and show them how we do it.

What do you feel was working for you guys tonight?

Just our effort and intensity that we played with. We played with a lot of grit on both sides of the ball. We shared the ball. We just had fun out there.

What do you think the identity of this team is?

Very much different from last year. We don’t have Burns to throw it in to, and pass it back out to us. We’ve got a lot of good guys. Fast on offense and defense. It’s going to be a good show every night.

How does it feel looking up at those two banners?

It feels good. I remember going back to my Freshman year, I told Coach Johnson, before I leave NC State, I’m going to have two banners up. Look at it now. Now I’m going for 3 or 4.
