#9 NC State Defeats ETSU 80-55 in Season Opener (notes, box score & highlights)

The 9th ranked NC State Women’s Basketball team kicked off their 2024-25 season with a 80-55 win over ETSU last night.

As a team, the Wolfpack shot the ball better, (47.7%/34.4%), outrebounded ETSU (49-30), got to the charity stripe more (15 FTs/2 FTs), and turned the ball over less (14/17).

NC State scored more points off of turnovers (15/13) and had more second chance points (23/12).

The Wolfpack ran out a starting lineup of 4 Guards and 1 Center.

Sophomore Guard Zoe Brooks

Senior Guard Saniya Rivers

Senior Guard Aziaha James

Senior Guard Madison Hayes

Senior Center Lizzy Williamson

Despite starting 4 Guards, NC State scored over half of their points in the paint (42 out of 80).

Zoe Brooks led the Pack in scoring and assists, with 21 points ( 8-14 FG) and 4 assists. Aziaha James, who led NC State in scoring last season, looked like she was back to 100% after dealing with an injury in the preseason, scoring 17 points (7-14 FG), and grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds.

Madison Hayes and Saniya Rivers both chipped in 11 points apiece. Hayes was 5 of 7 from the field, and had 2 steals. Rivers was 4 of 12 from the field, but did hit 2 of her 5 three-point attempts. She also had 7 rebounds and a team-high 3 steals.

The 9th ranked Wolfpack has a massive challenge in Game 2 this Sunday, playing #1 South Carolina in Charlotte.
