NC State has Never Been Ranked in the AP Preseason Poll & Failed to Make a Bowl Game

NC State started the season ranked 24th in the Preseason AP Poll. The Wolfpack have only started the season ranked in the AP Poll on 8 occasions.

Up until now, NC State has never been ranked in the Preseason AP Poll, and gone on to miss a Bowl Game.

2003 – Pre – 16th/Final – NR – Tangerine Bowl

1993 – Pre – 25th/Final – NR – Hall of Fame Bowl

1989 – Pre – 24th/Final – NR – Copper Bowl

1975 – Pre – 13th/Final – NR – Peach Bowl

1974 – Pre – 18th/Final – 11th – Bluebonnet Bowl

1973 – Pre – 17th/Final – 16th – Liberty Bowl

The Wolfpack has never done well when they carry preseason hype into a season. Of the 8 times that NC State has been ranked in the AP Preseason Poll, they have only finished the season ranked twice, and that was all the way back in 1973 and 1974.

To put it simply, if NC State doesn’t make a Bowl Game this year, the 2024 season will go down as arguably the most disappointing in school history.
