Wolfpack’s Dominant 4th Quarter Powers #20 NC State Past Southern in Game 1 of Baha Mar Championship

The 20th ranked NC State Women’s Basketball team defeated Southern 77-47 in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship down in the Bahamas this morning, improving to 4-2 on the year. The Wolfpack will play the winner of #7 LSU and Washington on Wednesday.

NC State got off to a slow start, leading 29-27 at the half. A 4th quarter explosion led to the 30-point victory. In the 4th, the Wolfpack outscored the Jaguars 32-9. NC State shot 73% in the final period.

Sophomore Guard Zoe Brooks led the way with 17 points, shooting 5 of 10 from the field. Freshman Guards Zam Jones chipped in 13 points (4-9 FG), and led the team with 5 assists (1 TO).

Senior Guard Aziaha James had 12 points (4-10 FG).

Senior Guards Madison Hayes and Saniya Rivers tied for the team lead in rebounds, with 7.

The Wolfpack dominated in all Four Factors that lead to victory. They shot better, won the battle on the offensive glass, won the turnover margin, and shot 16 more free throws.
