NC State Athletics issued a press release today announcing the possibility that Carter-Finley Stadium, the home of Wolfpack football, might be getting a new name.

_______

NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium has been the home to many memorable moments for Wolfpack Football and is a landmark in the city of Raleigh. In the future, the iconic facility may have a new name, as NC State Athletics has partnered with Independent Sports and Entertainment (ISE) to identify a potential naming rights partner.

“With the blessing of the Carter and Finley families, we are able to pursue this opportunity to enhance our program in the new landscape of college athletics,” said Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. “We are grateful for their support through the years and for their understanding of our need to explore new revenue sources to invest in the development and success of our student-athletes.

ISE is a sports marketing agency that specializes in venue naming rights revenue generation opportunities in the college athletics space. ISE is the leader in college venue naming rights having successfully run eight searches in the past two years totaling $180M+ to university partners on campuses across the country.

“We have had great conversations with both families and will keep them informed of all potential options,” Corrigan continued. (GoPack)

On October 6th, 1966, the stadium was opened after 22 months of construction. It was originally called Carter Stadium, named after Harry and W.J. “Nick” Carter, a pair of NC State graduates from Wallace, N.C. who were successful textile manufacturers. In 1979, Finley was added to the name, after Albert E. Finley.
