NC State vs. Texas: A Historical Perspective

NC State and Texas will play one another on the basketball court for the 5th time this evening,

The series is currently even at 2-games apiece. A win tonight would give the Wolfpack the edge in the series.

The series began back on March 21st, 1978, in the Finals of the NIT. The Wolfpack lost to the Longhorns 91-103 in Madison Square Garden.

#17 NC State defeated Texas 69-68 in their third game in the 1987 Great Alaska Shootout.

In their third matchup, the Longhorns defeated the Wolfpack 54-75 in the 2nd round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Cam Bennerman led the team with 16 points. Gavin Grant had 14 points and 4 assists. Ced Simmons had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.

The last matchup between the two was in the Legends Classic in 2011, with NC State winning 77-74. CJ Leslie had 17 points, Scott Wood had 16 and Lorenzo Brown had 11.
